The campfire had burned low, just a bed of orange embers and the smell of woodsmoke. Oliver had fallen asleep in the chair, his hat pulled over his face, when a soft *pop* and a flicker of gold caught his eye. A Fire Yosei no bigger than his thumb sat atop a log, its tiny arms crossed, its round cheeks puffing with indignation. It pointed a stubby finger at the dying fire, then at Oliver, then at the fire again, as if to say, *'You're doing it wrong.'* Oliver blinked, rubbed his eyes, and smiled. The little spirit hopped onto his knee, wrapped its arms around his thumb, and the embers roared back to life. Somewhere in the dark, a Water Yosei sneezed.
